It's a $30 bottle of wine!!
To ensure I fully enjoyed this wine, Mark included a link to some eduicational material:
OH PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, CLICK AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION! THERE'S MOST OF THE SWEAR WORDS AND FOOD CRIMES
Rather than follow the entirety of the advice of Aunty Donna, I opted to just pour a glass and let it sit for 5 minutes. I even had some company, being that of my wonderful wife!
As it sat, apparently enhancing its flavour, I pondered the games I have played for this experiment so far. Something that occurred to me is that perhaps I could use this as an opportunity to clear out the games that my hour with have revealed to be of poor quality or at least, not interesting. And I've found that actually playing these games makes the idea of letting go of them much easier. This in itself is relieving, at least my particular form of goblinization allows me to get rid of my stuff if it isn't worth my time. I'm not going to end up found dead under a stack of newspapers. Probably.
Five minutes passed, and I took a sip. And... it was red wine. The problem I have with red wine is that the bitter tannins overpower much of the experience for me, and this was no exception. Mark had advised I try it with some included dark chocolate, and so, never one to turn down chocolate I tried the combination. And I have to admit, it did improve it to some degree, but only by reducing the impact of the tannins. The wine itself still just wasn't for me. Fortunately my wife was more than happy to take the rest off my hands.
Wondering if perhaps I was missing something, I consulted the reviews, but that only served to convince me I just don't get wine - because the one thing the review noted was that it had "hints of chocolate". Unless they could somehow see into the future and review my specific circumstances, I have to say, I couldn't taste it.
I'm very grateful for this kick that has had me actually explore my games library, and provided this creative outlet. Which is fortunate, as I have expanded my list to include digital games, and have recently acquired.... more. The current count of games to try sits at 549 games, which at the rate I'm going gives me something to do for the next decade.
Next time: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for Nintendo 3DS. A series that I keep trying and failing to get hooked on.
